Research Room

Each PHA International PH Conference and Scientific Sessions features a Research Room where people with pulmonary hypertension and their families can contribute to PH research. In the Research Room, scientists and health care professionals collect data and biological specimens to better understand PH, develop potential treatments, and improve care.

Attendees who participate may be asked to provide blood, allow researchers to swab the inside of their cheeks, or fill out surveys. By participating in Research Room studies, the PH community can make a difference in the study of pulmonary hypertension. For example, the gene for heritable pulmonary arterial hypertension was discovered from an early Research Room study.

Attendees can indicate their interest in the Research Room during the PHA 2026 registration process.
